La Sonora Carruseles is a Colombian Band from Medellin. They are playing very fast dance music, Salsa Dura, and also other styles as Boogaloo which is a fusion of Soul and Salsa. Their music is inspired by the early Salsa bands of the 70ies.
They became famous through their 2nd album “Heavy Salsa” and their hits “Micaela”, “Ave Maria Lola”, and “Al son de los cueros”.
They have been critisized because of their clean commercial sound and their mass of cover versions.
The band was founded by Mario Rincon Pachanga. The name Carruseles is a hommage for a music title of the band “Sexteto Miramar”. Their label is Discos Fuentes.
